From a Miami Cookout
to Canadian BBQ Aisles
Sammy D's started while tailgating at Miami Hurricane football games.
Every Saturday through the fall and winter, for about ten years, he ran the grill getting ready to watch the Miami Hurricanes, prepping the meat and sauce the day before and cooking on game day.
Miami is where the flavors came together: the sweet barbecue he grew up on and the bold, scotch bonnet fire coming out of the city's kitchens. So he stopped choosing between them, adjusting the recipe tailgate after tailgate until sweet and spicy finally hit as one.
What’s in the Bottle
Sammy D's is made in three acts. First a classic barbecue sweetness, then a wave of island flavour, then a slow-building scotch bonnet heat that keeps you reaching for the bottle. It is a sweet and spicy BBQ sauce, not a straight hot sauce, so it plays well on wings, burgers, brisket, chicken, pork, or anything you would dip, glaze or grill.
